Biography

Loretta VANDI – MA Università di Bologna, Ph.D., Université de Lausanne, Professor of Art History, Scuola del Libro, Urbino (retired). She studies medieval and Renaissance illumination, medieval and early modern women artists, early modern reception of Antiquity, theories of ornament, fifteenth and sixteenth-century printed images, contemporary art and architecture. She has held four Samuel H. Kress fellowships. She organized a session on ornament at the CAA 2010 Conference. Her publications include six monographs and articles on international magazines (Gesta, Mediaevalia, Peregrinations, Scriptorium, Acta ad Archaeologiam et Artium Historiam Pertinentia, Prospettiva, Medioevo, Arte Marchigiana, Memorie Domenicane, Studia Oliveriana, Studi Romagnoli). She contributed chapters to essay collections and is a reviewer for the College Art Association, Il Giornale dell’arte, and Critique d’Art.
